Whenever I purchase a wedge of Parmesan cheese, I cut the rind off and put in the freezer. Then, on a day like today, when I want to make soup – it’s right there waiting for me. Adding a Parmesan rind to soups while they simmer provides depth to the flavor. It’s that simple – […]

A New Chapter – and Baked Oatmeal!
In 2018, I closed Flagstone Pantry to relocate to Washington, D.C. – again. I’ve had a little time to reflect on my experience owning and operating Flagstone Pantry, which I’ve concluded was equal parts rewarding, challenging, fun and terrifying. Being featured on Cooking Channel’s Cheap Eats: Santa Barbara for my Cowboy Cooking was simply the […]
As Seen on Cooking Channel’s Cheap Eats!
In January 2018, the crew from Cooking Channel joined us for 2 days of filming and fun featuring our Cowboy Cookie. A hearty snack containing peanut butter, coconut, chocolate chips and oats – it’s about time the Cowboy Cookie got some prime time love (if we may say so ourselves)! They took over our kitchen […]
NEW: Peanut Butter Blondies (GF ingredients)
The best thing about these blondies, besides the peanut butter and dark chocolate chips, is the fact that no one realizes they are made with gluten-free ingredients! Chewy and satisfying, you won’t miss the all-purpose flour. Trust us on this. Get yours at Crazy Good Bread Company in Montecito and Carpinteria. Enjoy!
Over 250 Recipes!
This is an exciting day. About 3 1/2 years ago, I started a blog at getyouryummyback.com (GYYB). Ever since, I’ve been posting recipes weekly for soups, salads, sides, main dishes, starters, breakfast and treats. I’ve highlighted how to cook gluten-free whole grains, tips for the perfect stir-fry and how to grill a turkey. There are now about 250 recipes in the GYYB archive.
I am officially moving all of the GYYB content here to flagstonepantry.com, where I run my business. There are lots of good things in the works at Flagstone Pantry and I look forward to keeping you in the loop on all the shenanigans. Until then, if you are looking for a recipe, simply use the search bar to search by ingredient or by key word such as “main dish” or “muffin”…
Roasted Red Pepper and Pumpkin Soup
I do this all the time. I find a recipe that looks tempting and then I make it my own by changing ingredients, the method of preparation, or both. My latest success in this category ~ Roasted Pepper and Pumpkin Soup.
Lentil Sausage Soup + Ice Baths for Soup
I’m always in the market for a good hearty soup! This Lentil Sausage Soup is a keeper. Lentils cook relatively quickly, so I consider this a weeknight recipe. It also freezes well. I served it up with a green salad and some equally hearty Irish Soda Bread. ~yum~
Special Turkey Day Edition!
It’s Friday and I imagine most of us are shopping or planning to shop for Thanksgiving next week. I thought I’d share some of my turkey day favorites from the GYYB archives…
Lentil Soup
Yield: 6 quarts This hearty soup is delicious. For a vegetarian option, leave the sausage out and use vegetable broth. Never throw out rinds of Parmesan cheese – freeze them and use them for soup! 1 pound brown lentils 1/4 cup olive oil 4 cups diced yellow onions (3 large) 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 […]
Chili Time!
This week started out as summer and took a major turn towards Fall. In celebration – I made this Red Chili. I surfaced an old favorite recipe and made it my own by blending ground pork and beef, adding spices and a little heat. It’s delicious! For 5 chili recipes, read more…
